In Say Hello Before Posting
I live in Florida after a lifetime of being a small business owner in 2 different careers. I started into making leather "stuff" when I was in my teens and needed some tack for my horse. I bought a book authored by Bruce Grant and took the plunge into leather braiding to build reins, halters, head stalls, and other items of horse "gear". I still have a few items from those early years of working leather. Now I am retired since 2008 and I found that I still love the smell of leather and felt compelled to follow that old love of leather and started in by building a much needed wallet, a trifold wallet to be exact, as my 1st project. [Yeah, no sense in "easing" into a cold lake when a nice dive will take care of the "getting accustomed to" steps of learning how to use tools and how to stitch/fasten leather products together.] I have been fighting this "addiction" for about 11 years now with no hope of a full recovery in sight!
I am still a "student", as that has always been my "modus operandi" for learning anything new, and I am now making many smaller items of leather using veg tan, chrome tan, and different exotic leathers to strengthen and/or compliment my projects. I found "Leathercraft Masterclass" by accident while looking for overseas outlets for my needs in finished and also exotic leather side and skins. I am not an active member but have followed Phillip in all of his "free" videos and have learned more than I ever imagined from seeing his precision and patience in using his tools and designs to make original items of leather.
Thanks Phillip for your "clandestine" mentorship with teaching this old guy more about finessing his work and opening up new doors to the realm of other "ways to do it" as you publish your own videos.
