@Philip I'm gonna pop a reminder in the calendar for this time in May. Any degradation I'll report back immediately though. My worry is the slicking has removed anything for the edge paint to 'bite' into. We shall see!

This is the result I've come back with. I think I can get it to where I want it to be using this method :) I used some Tokonole to give it a light burnish (flattening it all down). Then used the Fiebings Edge Kote. I apologise for the pictures I've been uploading, they are terrible! My phone is clearly outdated haha. Thanking everybody for commenting :)

Good question haha. It's one of these card sliders that has the aluminium pocket - I've been eyeing them up for a long time... it's more 'gadgety' than anything, but so far it's been of great use!

Thanks guys! I have seen the video before, I might have a go at the edge paint... If I'm unhappy though, I'll go for remaking it. :) Seeing as I have some Cardovan Shell on the way!

I await these moments when I make my very own design. Only a few things strike me with such nightmares, this being one... Do you think securing some sandpaper on the end would be a safe(er) attempt to sand it back? Using it the way you described to burnish of course.

He was my first teacher! I've done a serious amount of stitching before this one so I'm very happy with my stitching here (probably my best so far!) I was thinking about applying skins to my work recently, something I really need to look into. I honestly don't how to order any other kind of leather haha. I only use Metropolitan uncoloured so far. I've watched countless dying processes, I'm positive I would have used knowledge from him too. Thank you for your kind words! :)

Made a purchase after your live stream mate. I'm blown away, I have a small diamond KS set. But I fully support this way of engineering - a tool that doesn't have to be preplaced entirely once damaged!

Thank you all so much for your help! I've got a half tidy awl which I think I'm going to learn to use properly then perhaps invest further. I'm going to try a bunch of different things too and I'll see which improves my results. The irons still do great at 2 layers, maybe 3. Once there are too many pieces involved, then maybe it's time to go to the traditional method! Much love!

@Fadi Hello, I'm using natural Veg Tan supplied from Metropolitan Leather. It's around 1-1.5mm(3-4oz?), I don't have a measuring tool for thickness yet so I'm just trusting their word for now and going by eye. At the wallets thickest point there are 4 layers. I'm using a contact adhesive (evo-stik). I apply a small amount, let it sit till it becomes tacky and then I join the pieces. This is when I begin to wait for it to dry... I have a feeling I'm being too impatient with the gluing process.
