The course on pattern making is great and well thought out but I agree with ddunn68, how do you get to that point? How do you go from something in your mind's eye to something that you can make a pattern from? There has to be an intermediate area between concept and pattern making. I imagine it all starts with a drawing and some colored pencils so is there a good site for learning how to draw? I can draw, but so can my grandchildren. Theirs usually look better than mine. I've heard of using craft foam to do a mockup but I'm not sure exactly how that would work. Do you allow a seam allowance on the mockup or just write something like '5mm seam allowance' on the pre-pattern piece? What about zipper and closure placement? Is there a cheap leather that you can build prototypes from to check for draping and rigidity? Chopping up hundreds of dollars of leather to find out what doesn't work seems awfully expensive.

That's it. Loosen the top nut up as far as it can without forcing it and the motor will lift up.

Pretty much all motors have lock down device unless they are heavy enough for gravity to do the job so, there should be a bolt from either the motor bracket ( holds it to the bottom of the table) or from the table itself to the motor. It will usually have a nut top and bottom with the flange of the motor between them. Loosen off the one closest to the bottom of the table and run it up the threaded rod a way. Make sure the hinge of the motor is loose and the motor should hinge up and thereby loosen the belt. If all else fails, take some pictures of the underside of the table and the area all around the motor. Post them here and we can probably help out.

😄 I started buying tools before I listened to Phil's great advice about buying what you need when you need it. I now have a plethora of cheap tools that are more of a hindrance than a help. I'll fob them off on some new, up-and-coming leatherworker that I don't like 😂.
