So I bought this pricking iron from a lady who says that is has been in her grandfathers shed for the last 20 years. Apparently he worked for Tanner Krolle (doesn't exist anymore, Though it has both website and Insta 🤔).
Anyway, who knows how old it is but I'm going to restore it's former glory and relish that I now have a #6 iron that's made in England! 😄

Now it's the part when you tell us the restoration process!! which products /methods did you use?
Looks fantastic, great job!
Absolutly amazing! Great job on that Philip.
Here we go! I took it up to a satin finish and stopped there. I'm not too interested in having a highly polished pricking iron that I'll be scared of scratching, but it still has a nice smooth finish and I think it looks gorgeous! Very pleased.
Quick trial with 0.65mm Wuta poly thread:
Interestingly enough, the width of the prongs is a massive 3mm and the distance between them about 4mm.
Stitching this scrap piece of 5mm English bridle leather, I came across something I've never seen before. Although I didn't cast the thread, there were angles on both sides!
(bottom right stitch made with Wuta 3mm irons and 0.45mm thread for comparison)
Great idea! I guess after this, many of us will like to restore vintage tools hahaha :)
I am very curious how the iron will look after restoring. Good luck!🍀
