I was asked to make a tote bag as a birthday present and this was a real learning curve. I started out by gluing salpa to the main bag, but when I attached the lining, it quickly went pear shaped.i ripped it off and started again but ommited the salpa. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out but I know I still have a long way to go before I can get a perfect looking product.
I used a red kid skin as lining
All edge painting was done using Uniters. I got the tip of using this little bottle from Philip's Edge techniques class
I tried to make the inside beautiful too. I measured the base of the bag and cut out the measurements using 1mm thick salpa and 1 from main leather I glued them together and used as bag bottom for a decorative effect
I also lined the outside pocket
The edge painting on the straps was no joke,😐
I hand stitched the sides and bottom

Love the bag! Also love the idea of the croc bottom on the inside but maybe next time curve it's corner so that it follows the outter corners once the bag is sewed?
Why are you people pressuring me to learn edge painting????
@ruthdmaxwell Fantastic Dibs!
Great job with the construction and beautiful edge work too. I'm sure you are happy with the outcome.
Excellent post.
It looks wonderful. The stitches and and edge paint looks really good, the patience paid off.
Hi Ruth! Love the color! What a stunning tote! Edge painting those straps looks like it would take some time, but it definitely finished the look!
Hey Ruth! it looks gorgeous!
Would you like to tell us more about it? what kind of leather and lining did you use? Did you avoid reinforcements, then? or used something else?
I like it very much!!! Cheers!
