Hey guys!
It's been a while I haven't posted anything :) I didn't have much time for leatherworking and I've done only 3-4 small projects in almost 2 months.
Here is one of my projects. Set(or collection) of the business cards holder, bifold wallet and passport holder. I've made this set for my friend's birthday.
I used 3-4 oz dark brown Horween Essex, Buttero(2oz, dark brown, natural, black), Dollaro(2oz black) leathers. You can see, I used all scrap pieces of leather I had :)))
It was the first time when I tried edge painting. First, I practiced on small pieces and it turned out very good. But when I applied edge paint on the passport holder it was like hell!)) all edges were dirty and different thickness! Then I cleaned it up, sand it and applied edge paint again.
Now it looks much better, but I should practice it more.
I hope I'll be able to subscribe to Leathercraft masterclass courses in a couple of months :) to avoid all of those mistakes.
Horween Dark Brown Essex
I worked only 4-5 hours a week on this project
Nicely done!
What a lucky friend to receive all these handmade gifts. When it comes to edge painting, it's certainly a good first effort.
What is the thread thickness you are using? When I started working leather, I learned from "cowboy" instruction books and did not know about the Euro-luxury aesthetic. I bought a lot of 1mm flat-braided threads, and so I want to figure out how to use them. Hence my question.
Thanks for the photos!
