Ok, this is clearly not a leather project but something I wanted to share.
I tend to bounce back and forth between working with leather and working with wood. In both cases I prefer hand tools / traditional techniques. For the longest time I kept all my leather working tools in a soft tool bag forcing me to rummage through it in search of the tool I needed. Finally decided to build a toolbox to suit my needs and available workspace.
I think this case is 7 years old or so but it remains my favorite leather working "tool". Unfortunately, this was built early on in my leather crafting / woodworking timeline and my tools have changed (and grown of course). Considering redesigning and building v2 but continue to love interacting with a case I built and being able to grab the right tool when I need it.
I have a few other woodworking projects related to leather craft which I will share as well. I'm particularly excited about the stitching clamp I just made and will share once I take some photos. Will also share some actual leather work I've done.
Very nice, I’ve been thinking about making something similar!
Wow, the precision on those dovetail joints! Really well made. I'm sure you'll be making more ;D
Beautiful work. I’ve been thinking about getting a vintage machinists chest, but after 5 years into the hobby, I’ll now need three of them 😂
