This is what happens when you’re feeling over confident in you skiving chops - at least I know my sharpening skills are solid.
Was excited to discover hand skiving this wasn’t as difficult as expected despite the canvas backing and copious amount of PVA glue. Things were going amazingly well until they weren’t- sliced clean through my gusset. Had myself a little tantrum followed by panic that I wouldn’t have enough material to make another. Thankfully I did and you can bet I will be much more careful skiving the next one.
Oh man, that's painful to see. I ended up using a Dremel tool with a sanding drum to skive down those edges because it was such a bear to get through the lining material and the PVA underneath with a skiving knife. But good work my man, it looks great!
