I am a leather artisan from Austria, and just went fulltime as I was working for Red Bull and in Blockchain before. I am mainly focusing on „male fashion“ and travel luggage/accessories but currently prototyping a female bag that can be scaled to any size! Handstitcher and tool lover!
I share a lot of my daily tasks as so many here on Instagram: @cr_ledermanufaktur :)
thanks samuel!! really appreciate the compliment!
@Philip : you really cant compare. go was when i had rarely any idea about leatherwork and he helped a lot with the basics and specially the japanese tools and way of maintenance etc (eg also glueing). most of the techniques i kept and slightly adapted to my needs but i love the japanese culture and way of doing things (accuracy, cleanness erc) so going to go was more than about leathercraft! getting to kniw him, the city, the food was an experience worth every cent abd holidays well spent!
my “course“ now is what mainly 15-16 year olds have to do in austria when they start a job (and not go off to uni). the system is as follows: you find an employer and get an apprenticee contract for 3 years. each year you have to go to school for 10 weeks to have practical experience at your employer and the theoratical part at school. in my case i managed to be allowed to be my own „employer“ as there is none left in austria that take bagmaking apprenticees and only have to do school!
we have a workspace at school too so it is amazing to test all tools/machines that wohld be expensive to just buy. but im in a class eirh saddlery students and leather interior students. it is cool cause you get their perspective on things but then again there
is no focus on bag making, no special
leathers for it and so on! does that answer :)?
Hi, follow you on IG and your work looks really nice!
Hey Christina! Thank you for joining in!
How is your course going at the moment? I'd be interested to hear comparisons to your time at Go Leathers.
