Now that I’ve got your attention, I’ve recently been to a supplier and picked up some veg tanned calf hide and considering constructing a leather apron. However...the flesh side nap is a tad fuzzy. I didn’t see how this compared to the leather in Phil’s video, but I’m curious to hear others’ techniques / suggestions how to tackle this issue. Would it suit to bond an inner like denim or silk? How would one best mitigate the issue of leathery lint? Suggestions welcome.

@stephenkgavin Sounds like it hasn't been split correctly. You can use something like tokonole to flatten the fibres down using a slicker.
Adding a secondary material will make it very stiff, especially vegtan.
Your other option is to have it sent off and split to remove the fuzzy flesh side, as long as you have enough thickness to sacrifice a thin layer being removed.
