Hello everyone! I've recently just started on my leathercraft journey and is currently struggling with edge painting, especially with thinner leather pieces (0.8mm). I can't seem to get a neat edge even when working on a clean-cut piece. Are there any things I can look out for or special techniques when it comes to thinner pieces?

Awesome! Thanks for all the advice! Let me go try out some of these techniques!
@jaminchoe Hello Jamin, welcome to the forum, I'm glad you could join us here.
The only thing missing here is experience and practice. If you keep practising on thin scraps, you will eventually get that 'aha!' moment where you find your flow.
In the mean time you can try holding the edge vertically and pulling a bead of edge paint down with a round awl.
You may also have better luck with an edge paint roller where you pull the edge across a wheel with the edge facing down.
If you absolutely have to, you can hack the process by laying masking tape down over your cut line, cutting your leather, applying paint, then removing the masking tape.
As a personal favour, would you mind posting an introduction and a little about your journey in leathercraft in the 'Introduce Yourself' section?
We would all love to hear you share your story! 😄👍
Suggest you to use an awl for that. The mini bottles are still a bit too much for that thickness of leather.
Hey, I'm using Conceria Walpier buttero leather (Split to 0.8mm). The edge paint I'm using is uniters EP Pro. I tried both using a needle tip mini bottle as well as a paint dauber.
Hey
a little more detail would help us. What kind of leather, which edge paint are you using, how are you applying it?
pictures if available also :)
