I came across this tool and it looks to be a skiving knife but I am not 100% sure. The seller mentions a total length of 32cm, which seems pretty large to me.
Alright guys it has arrived and I have to say it is truly massive 😂😂It's just slightly smaller than my hand and weighs in at 608gr. It seems to be ground from both sides, well both sides have horizontal grinding marks and the blade tapers to almost nothing (its a convex grind as well). As for the construction, it is very solid, zero movement in the handle and the blade has rounded edges along the sides. If anybody has any wisdom to offer about sharpening this monster, i'm all ears 😅@Leathercraft Masterclass@Fadi@Anders from Jävlar@VII XCIV
It's an interesting piece for sure, it also looks like then back has been ground flat at some point and I have a suspicion that there is an angle on the other side.
The seller says it is a shoemakers tool but isn't sure either and that is is 32cm long, nothing else unfortunately.
However, my curiosity got the better of me and for the price he was asking I have bought it. So in a couple of days I can share some more up close images 😁
I got "Moocetti". Also tried "Moccetti", nothing works.
Also did a research in french for tools manufacturers in the Grenoble Area, nothing at all came up that ressembles this name, which begs to question "How old is that thing"?

Interesting! Googling Moccetti at least gives one more leather related result. And I would say that the goat logo points towards maroquinerie.
@LowlandsLeather What does the maker claim that it is? I've never seen a foot long skiving knife before. Maybe it's for skiving Subway sandwiches? ;)
I've got 'B. MOOGETTI
How about you guys?
I could not find a single thing about this french manufacturer. It might also be because i am not able to guess the name properly...
However, it does look like a skiving knife. an extremly old one, but a beauty none the less.
Do let us know if you find out more about it
Hello there,
I can confirm it is for flipping burgers.
Searched for the maker, only came up with fashion wear for me.
