Hi!
I haveproblem with my skiving machine. while sliving the leather leftovers Frome time to te stays in the bell knife. sometimes they wrap up the feed roller and make the skive uneven.
It's super annoying I have to remove them manually,
Please help me to fix this problem.
Phill, I know the video about the skiving machine by heart :) but here is nothing about my problem.
I'm with Phil on this one. As far as I'm concerned, if gravity worked for Sir Isaac Newton, its good enough for me. I also binned that little lip for "removing" the scrap. Tip I learned - some of the very fine scrap shavings mixed with PVA makes an excellent filler.
There is usually a metal waste guide that connects to the frame and scrapes away waste on the inside of the bell knife. It made things worse for me, so I removed it. After that, waste was ejected much more easily.
If you have some cut resistant gloves, you may want to try removing it to see if that helps.
Short little pieces if waste naturally want to stay in the knife, this is why high end industrial skiving machines come with a vacuum pump that physically pulls the skived pieces into the bin. Our machines run on gravity.
