I've been looking into this a bit recently as well and there have been some more recent posts on the forum of people with some less than perfect experiences with the Osbourne splitters. I think that I recall Philip mentioning that he has one from china which performs rather well, although in the future it could use some blade thinning.
I have also seen some splitters with the "Ivan" brand and they seem to be decent from the pictures although I couldn't say for sure if they are good since I have never had one :)
