Hi Guys,
I wanted to reach out and get some feed back about ordering pricking irons.
I currently have Kevin Lee pricking irons in sizes 2.7mm, 3.0mm, 3.38mm, 3.85mm. All of these are 8+2. Lately over some projects where I marking meters of leather I have found that the limited amount of teeth is impacting my accuracy with marking + time spent.
I was thinking of investing in the 20 tooth irons, or asking Kevin to make 22-25 tooth irons. Due to the price Im not going to try to order in all 4 sizes. I was thinking of going with 3.0mm and 3.85mm.
Anyone have any past experience with this?
Thanks in advance.
Hey Guys,
So after some researching and debate, I think i will go with 2 irons from Kevin Lee in 3.0mm and 3.85mm as these are the 2 most used sizes. I think it will actually come out a bit more expensive but Im happy to support Kevin and his work.
The Vergez Blanchard wheel is a beautiful tool but it will come again with a learning curve that isnt very convenient right now for my production.
Thanks Everyone for their help.
Does anyone have a source for a pricking wheel besides Vergez Blanchard and Doldokki? Just checking if anyone else in the world makes them anymore.
Thanks Olena, good to hear.
Hi Phillip, I actually hadn't given that any thought. I have never used one before so Im sure there will be a learning curve. Ill check that out and Ill see if Kevin makes them as well.
Have you thought about using a pricking wheel and guide instead? That would reduce your time to seconds and you'll also have something for long curves that are too long for a 2 tooth but too tapered for a larger iron (I hate that!).
