Philip's recent review of the 6T awl had me reaching for my wallet. However, like most Japanese websites, in my opinion, this one is shocking. I no hablo Japanese and the "English" translation appears to do little to mitigate confusion.
I was hoping there might be someone who could clarify what the awl blades 6T have on offer actually are. @Leathercraft Masterclass Phil, rather than PM you, for the benefit of the community, could you be specific on the awl blade? There was something in the video on dimensions, but tallying that to the site is not as easy as it sounds.
Thanks folks!
Stephen
Ok folks,
I’ve been able to get more information about the awl from 6T. Like Phil said, it’s an ebony haft, the blades that suit are 1.7mm, 2.0mm & 2.4mm. They run at ¥1620 ($15/£13/€14) for a non-sharpened blade and ¥3780 ($35/£29/€32) for a sharpened one. Given how diligent and skillful this craftsman is and craftspeople of this ilk, I couldn’t see myself being tight enough not to spring for a sharpened one. The Haft itself in this case is ¥8640 ($81/£66/€72). Prices are approximate, naturally. Shipping not included.
Hope it helps some. Now I’m off to watch Hannibal. Again.
