Hi everyone, I hope you are having a good weekend so far.
So I have noticed on others work that they are leaving the bottom area between the pockets unstitched (the work is lined). So I was wondering if any of you do this and have you ever had a problem with delamination? My concern would be that it's on a bend and after a bit of use it would start to part. I dont think I am missing anything obvious 🤔.
I have attached a picture so you can see what I mean. Also as per the forum rules I am not looking for anyone to deconstruct this, I am just looking for people experiences 🤗
Personally I would continue the stitch around the fold, but mainly for aesthetic purposes for a more consistent look.
On the rear side I would expect to see a back stitch at the end of each seam with a gap in the middle. It's personal taste really. But this example is very well finished (and photographed!).
As for longevity, as Mr Dunn mentions, a good application of quality PVA would be fine. Wallets aren't heirloom items really.
No personal experience with this as wallets like this aren't really my cup of tea. My two cents would be that I imagine it wouldn't be a problem, especially if you use a good quality flexible and waterproof PVA glue.
Where's the photo from, by the way?
