So right now, I only own a 3mm pricking iron. And sewing things other then wallets, is getting old fast!
SO, I decided to invest in some new tools. And now I need your help! What SPI should I chose for dog collars and belts?
and anyone tried a stiching wheel?
So I went to my wallet. and now have this on the way. 20 prong! :D also a 5 and a 2. Should be fun. I will post a review when it gets here from.
Thanks for all the answers!, Think im going to try a 3.85mm. Forking over my hard owned $, I don't want to buy something I will only used once.
I use 3.38 and 3.85. I typically default to 3.85 and move to 3.38 if I think 3.85 is too big. I wish I had a set of 4.0 irons for thicker more rugged pieces. Below is a picture of 3.85 KS Blade irons and .8 mm Ritza Tiger thread with a ruler added for reference.
For solid leather belts I like 3.85mm/ 7SPI as that style of casual belt works with a more stout looking seam.
For a lined belt working with softer leathers in a more formal context, I would choose 3.38mm which I think is a good compromise between finesse and being able to live my life outside the workshop.
