Hi,
I am facing an issue with my skiving machine and I was wondering if you could help me.
The blade was too far from the foot, so I used the wheel to bring them closer. However, this caused the sharpener to no longer align with the blade, and as a result, I can no longer sharpen the knife.
I am unsure if it's possible to adjust the sharpener arm to move it back into alignment with the blade. Do you have a solution to my problem? I would greatly appreciate it. I have attached a photo of the inside of my machine.
Thank you in advance.
Joanna
Hi Joanna,
I assume if you try to sharpen the knife, only the top of the bevel (away from the cuting edge) touches the grinding wheel?
If so, you will need to loosen the hex bolt at the end of the grinder support arm. When loosened you should be able to move the grinder back into place to match the blade again.
Always ensure you mark the blade bevel with marker pen after this process so you can track where the grinding wheel makes contact. If the wheel is very slightly out of alignment, it will be hard to see without marker, but your bell knife won't sharpen.
I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please feel free to add them below.
