For the benefit of the forum I will post my reply to you via email:

'I would suggest using a more aggressive roughing tool such as the one made by NT Cutter in Japan.

If it's that bad, you can even use a wire wheel on a Dremel, just be sure to use suitable eye protection for those little suckers!'

Let us know what you try and if you succeed. Perhaps there is someone else on this forum who has encountered the same issue.

@Leathercraft Masterclass cheers Phil. I was hoping someone would have solved it! The “resin” impregnation is like Teflon lol. Lovely leather but not clever if you can’t stick anything to the back of it that needs to be flexed.
