Does anyone have any experience of these? I know they seem to be good for items like belts but what about for splitting small items of leather. I am thinking of something the size for the body of a wallet, so about 90 - 100 mm wide. I know the blade is about 159mm wide but I suspect you cannot use the full width.

I have a copy of that splitter. I agree with Phillip. last week I split a 4mm thick, 70mm wide strip down to 3mm. My knife is ultra sharp, gave it a mirror polish. still, really had to use force, and stretched the leather about 1.5cm. And it was bridal butt!
So doing 100mm, while can be done, will be a task for sure.
@mt63 While a razor sharp blade will obviously make life easier, you are going to have a hell of a time pulling 100mm through a splitter.
It is possible, just not ideal as the force exerted tends to stretch the leather as you approach 1-1.5mm or below.
Taking 2.5mm down to 2mm might be ok, but for wallet thicknesses I would rather buy at the right thickness, split on a skiving machine, or have a section of hide sent for professional splitting.
