Hello!
I’ve been using Barge brand solvent cement for bonding linings onto leather. Specifically using chrome/veg goat hide onto Veg tan cow and exotics It gives the products I create a strong solvent smell, that takes a while to vanish and hides some of the wonderful leather smell. Is there a less smelly product to use that creates just as strong and flexible of a bond?
Have you tried fabric glue? There are several different types and consistencies.
I have always used Fiebings leathercraft cement until recently. I switched to Reina Aquilim 315. Reina dries a bit faster in my opinion so it speeds up my process a tiny bit which is always nice.
I recently purchase Saregum water based glue from rmleathersupply.com, via a suggestion from Philip. I was skeptical at first due to how thin it was, but it tacked up really nice and bonded strong. This will absolutely be my go-to for future wallet linings.
I use Aquilim 315 from Renia. It is a water-based contact cement. I have found solvent-based contact cement works better but Aquilim works great for 95% of applications.
Hi mate! perhaps you would like to check out Phil's video, "Techniques of Adhesion"... there you have all explained, guess you will find it useful :)
