So I want to try, making my first bag. I really like this grained leather. But all the thicker leathers I can source with this pattern, is to soft to support the kind of bag im making.
Will I have to use softer leathers, and use a stabiliser?
I just bought 5 split sides from Wickett and Craig to use for all kinds of interface, filler, and stiffener applications. I called and they said they have a variety of thicknesses and just tell them what I want. They were cheap, less then $5 per side. The shipping was more then the leather. I found more uses then I imagined by just having it on hand.
But leather splitters don't come cheap. I had in mind for a Fortuna leather splitter. But that requires a lot of investment.

I use split vegtan leather (the flesh side) as a filler for my raised belts.
Extra, how is this made? The bevel I mean. Is it pressed with a tool?, or is there a inlay?
