Does anyone have experience with Novolene boards from Weaver or Hydroma boards for cutting? self healing mats grab my blade and don’t allow for a nice glide so I’m looking for something new. Open to any suggestions.
You can also find Delrin, which is more commonly available than acetal in some places. The difference between the two is in chemical composition, which matters more to industries who use the materials for specific needs. Both acetal and delrin will work more or less the same for leatherwork. I bought a sheet of Delrin, or POM as it was called here and have been pleased with it so far :)
You can also try things like HPDE, which is also used as a cutting surface. I haven't used it myself but I imagine it will bite less than a green cutting mat and more than acetal.
I also bought a huge sheet of POM after watching Philips's video, problem is that they only stock white here, it gets so dirty after a while I just had to switch back to an olfa mat.
However, still sticking with his spot on suggestion of UHMWPE to glue on, thing's absolutely non stick.
PS. I know Philip has a video on Acetal. Seems hard to find but I’m looking.
