I’m doing some test strips for a belt and my husband is no help.
It’s for the reversible belt in Ellen’s book.
I‘m using Wickett and Craig forest green and medium brown. The treads I have are Vinymo in an off white, medium brown and forest green. I either match one color leather or go contrast on both.
Thanks.
I vote for the brown thread as well!!
Definitely go with the brown stitching. It is contrasting on the green and at the same time not "flashy" or too strong of a contrast.
I believe all three colors work. If I was making for myself, I would pick medium brown. I like contrast stitching if it is integral to overall design, otherwise I prefer stitching to blend in as much as possible. This is totally personal preference. I think medium brown would give me most flexible to wear belt with widest range of colors. The brown leather and brown thread side could be worn with anything and green/brown still looks great and fun.
I’m looking forward to see how it turns out!
So your doing 2 separate belts? If your doing 1 belt I would do the forest green on one side and the medium brown on the other side. I would use the medium brown thread to stitch it. You will have a nice contrast on the green side and a blend on the brown side. What is your plan for the edge finish? If you go with a paint...what colors do you have in mind? This is a good project :)
