Hello there, just wanted to a careful warning about theese snaps from my otherwise all-time-favourite supplier Rocky Mountain Leather Supply.
It's the THK ones, I used the antique brass ones on a rugged wallet for a friend. He managed to get it wet and not only did they corrode and rust but they miscolored the leather heavily!
Thank God it was on a small project, that was supposed to look rugged and made for a friend.
Anyhow, NO grudge against RMLeather here and I await further investigation from their customer support.
Its probably the wearers fault when getting a wallet wet. But life is life and things happens so its sad either way so this will surely make me hesitate to use theese snaps in the future.

Sick! This must be iron ions reacting with the tannic acids. Vinegaroon inside the leather.
Hello, A response from RML please? Have you tried the Nickel and Gold versions? Are they good quality? Kind regards,
Thanks for the heads up, Daniel and Fadi. I hope you get positive news from RM.
Beautiful work, Fadi!
Question: Did you glue the gator and lining together flat, or did you glue it "on the bend"? What was the thinking behind your choice?
Love the photos, too.
@Fadi Damn, but at least you know now!
How many products do you think have gone out with these snaps?
So, the verdict is in... F%$&!
I attached a snap to a piece of vegtan, soaked it in distilled water for 5mins, let it dry over night and BOOOOM, see the results below
So yeah.... Buckleguy, I come back crawling to you
@Daniel Styffe , let us know if RMLS replies to you plz
Damn!
very interrested in their response as I have been using these snaps exclusively for the past few months... I am going to actually do a test today, maybe you had a faulty batch or something. I sure hope so for all of our sakes...
@Daniel Styffe Very interesting. Do let us know when you hear back from RMLS, they are a decent bunch of guys over there.
