Hello everyone. what do you think is the reason for this crack? m y thoughts are I didnot burnish the edge enough or using bad glue. What do you think ?
I'm not sure if you can get it wherever you are but I'm extremely fond of Barge's. I make a lot of turned totes and even with wrestling them right side out the lining of my bags doesn't wrinkle or warp LOL That said, totally agree that stitching it up is best!
Agree with @Fadi . A belt is a high wear tension item. Hence without stitching, the stress from all angles/movement will tear the leather. Best is to stitch it up. For glue, I use cement glue for my belts. They bond stronger than white glue in my opinion. But I believe there are other strong glue too.
How far from the edge was your stitch line? If it's too deep this can happen. Did you scuff up both side prior to merging them? Afterwards it helps to thump down the area with a cobblers hammer to help the fibers adhere well. Also the leather may have a high concentration of wax and oil which makes it more challenging to glue becuase it repels it. What type of leather is this? Bridal?

I don’t remember what kind of adhesive I used. It could be water based from Tandy or renia cement .
