Ok, so I want to know what you would like to see in future courses on the Leathercraft Masterclass.
In the past I have used Instagram stories to ask followers what they would like to see explained on video. Unfortunately, most of these requests are from people who don't watch the courses, and the answers run from ridiculous to downright bizarre.
I want to hear from active members who already watch the courses, so that you can share what you feel is missing from your knowledge base.
You are the people who support and keep the Masterclass creating new content both free and premium, so I want to hear what you want to see!
Comment below, everything is considered!
Another idea... I would love to see a techniques video on gussets, basic types, how to measure etc. I do have the books with directions but it's nice to see things in action and get advice on possible pitfalls in this area.
It's been such a gift to have found your classroom Phil. Thank you
Hello
It would be great to see the construction of the a portfolio/envelope case something like the Ludlow Envelope Laptop Case by Smythson. I've also been thinking about leather items that are used around the home, considering most of the world is stuck indoors; something other than a valet tray. :)
I posted some photos of some bags I've completed. I also do restorations on the 100+ year bags. Those are the most fun! You should see them after the restoration!
Uhmmm, that's a tough one Phil.
As a microcourse, i would actually love to see a proper tools maintenance quick vid. For example, polishing the hammer head, cleaning the inside of the creasers, quickly sharpening the shears. Protecting tools from rust. not detailed like your regular courses, maybe a quick 1min per topic?
I would love a course on gussets, specially the ones used for briefcases (I am thinking of the ones Martin Carswell uses on his briefcases). No need to make a full briefcase (allthough that would be beyond awesome), but from my discussion with other leather workers, it is always the gussets that scare us most when trying to think of making a briefcase.
I personally am more into complex project courses than the 1 off lessons, because I enjoy more the complex and numerous steps and skills required. Like the Turrenne (wrong spelling?) or the attaché case course.
One thing, and I am sure this is not possible because you have no idea how many videos you will make for a long course, but if possible at all when releasing a multi part course, to have someting like "1 of 4" on it, because aint nothing worse for me then not knowing how much i will have to wait...
I have made leather golf bags for old timey Hickory golfers. They take about a month to put together because there are no patterns and it has to be 36 inches high and 10-12 inches in circumference. I would love to see how you would do it.
It would be nice to see a tutorial using python skin or other snake skins
I´m following the Turenne bag right now. Seriously thinking about buying some Ostridge and trying it!!
Some smaller bags would be nice, Other then that, maybe raised belt? I do it for dog collars right not, but sometimes I find it hard, keeping the inder core straight for a longer belt, when doing 3 layers.
Btw, your videos are improving every time, so nice to see, your sense of perfectionism has followed over there :D Also, just wanted to say, keep steam on the kettle, the whole world is upside down right now, and I know a lot of forums and blogs are missing some action.
Some techniques on Accordion gussets for briefcases would be super
I would love to see how to approach a bag with a metal frame (Gladstone type case). All the best
