So yesterday, a friend asked me, what is a leather project you want to make, but can't right now? I had me thinking. What thing do I really want to make, before I die? And how do they compare or differ from other craftmen?
So here is my list. In no order.
A Hermes bag. Maybe a Birkin. Just to go in the class of some of the best craftsmen of history.
A leather box of some kind. Have a woodworker make the frame ect. Have it perfectly made. to fit stuff. Like the Old Louis Vuitton and Hermes.
A box like this. Japanese perfektion at its best!.
Some other thing include. Horse tag, Bridle work. A weekend bag.
Im sure my list will change. I have yet to make one bag or box, so there high on my list :D
Please share some, of what is on your list! NB: Can´t promise I won't steal some of your stuff :D
There are three things I'm going to make when I get more experience, skills and tools :)
1. Long zipper wallet for my wife( I can make it now, but it wont be nice and clean like this on the photo). Also, my wife is asking me to add tooling elements :)
2. Tote bag like this -
3. And a messenger bag like this -
There are so many things to learn!
I'd really like to make a Birkin for my mom as well.
For my own projects I can't do right now:
-Satchel bag with some brass hardware!
-Randoseru Japanese backpack (I just wanna be cool like the kids in my university 😂. JK, some of them drive cars that cost 5x more than my little economic subcompact)
-A watch strap out of shell, or maybe alligator
-A nice tablet/laptop case
I've been bouncing some designs around in my head for the satchel, and my collection for bag images on Instagram has grown exponentially. Out of these projects, the most immediately doable would probably be the tablet/laptop case.
I don't know really .I'd say the think I want to make the most will be something that when I say I made it, I will be slapped for claiming to have.madd something so superior 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Here is my list!
- A leather chair like this, but more classy ( t put in my iving room).
- A round bag, made of an exotic skin:
- Some fine watch straps:
I'm liking the idea more of trying to make luggage like the luggage box pic you posted wrapped in some nice leather. Something about them is catching my interest more and more.
Outside of that, I want to try and make bags for traveling like a weekend type bag or something small enough to be able to carry on airplanes.
Third, watch cases. I have a few friends that have some really nice watches so it's got me thinking about trying to make one for them. I have some good ideas, just need to execute them.
I really want to make a large alligator duffle, similar to the Tom Ford Buckley Duffle. Not in the mild brown they offer it in, something wild like robins egg blue from American Tanning lol.
I also would love to make a Berkin type bag for the wife.
Oooooh, nice post!
I have a few items on my bucket list, and they aaaaaaaare (Drumroll):
- Saddlebag for one of my motorcycles: but not the "usual" design. These are going to be more or a rolltopp saddle bags. I hope they turn out half as cool as I imagine them
- Special Satchel: During the day, I have a business where I work a lot in construction sites. I want to make a small stachel/crossbody that fits all the tools I need when I am on site (Measuring Tape, Electronic Measuring Device, Chalk/Sharpie, Notebook, Plans)
- Ball gag: Serious, my friend wants a well made leather ball gag. The one she uses are not up to her standards apparently...
- Purse: not in my regular rugged style, we are talking Le French way
