I do believe a lot of people will actually fall for such an add. Not our "regular" or typical customers, but the less leather savy people will.
The last bag I made , which took 40 hours of work and cost the client an arm and a leg. Guess what the first think her bf did when she gifted him the bag? Try to burn it with a lighter... She sent me video of the unboxing and that made me cringe too. Apparently, lots and lots of people still associate real leather with burn proof one (vs pva leather that just dies when near a flame). I can imagine the unburnable argument in this add will really resonate with a lot of people.
@Fadi In all my years, I have never heard of people trying to burn leather to test to see if is is real. Leather is fire retardant of course, but subjecting it to over a thousand degrees C?
I also remember seeing something about it on IG a while back, from an account from East Europe (can't remember who or which country). The account was doing a kind of myth/misconceptions debusting about leather, and one of the things they talked about it that leather was fireproof and about not testing it with a flame.
@Martin CarswelI Being Australian I would assume he is smirking while doing this.
You guys have a similar piss taking sense of humour to us in the UK, probably because we invented you guys... (there's an example ;)
But, as no one else is trying to burn leather, just because the ad is unusual, it will work for some who want to show their mates down the pub. 'Bet you $20 you can't burn this leather key holder!'
But there is also a high likelihood that people aren't falling for it. Only the owner will know for sure.
He may also be testing various kinds of ads on Facebook from the straightforward to the bizarre just to see what's working right now. Ad testing is quite common on Facebook.

Agree, quite the cringe fest!
And look . . . no cholesterol!
Wow, I want that!😁 If I would know his secret, I would make the best keyholder in Germany😁
