A short article from the May, 2020 Robb Report. Saddlery is a secret love of mine having spent most summers as a child on a stud farm with relatives. The enveloping scent of a tack room, deep, evocative and animalic still gets my heart going to this day. The genesis of my leather journey. What was yours?
Enjoy,
Stephen
@stephenkgavin Great find! I really enjoyed the video. Though I found the guys stitching and smoking a pipe made me feel less masculine.
I highly recommend the video on bookbinding from the same series, those guys know how to skive!
I maintain that of all the trades that work with leather, bookbinders have the most steady hands, especially for skiving.
@stephenkgavin Wonderful Stephen! I really enjoyed reading that, thank you.
I must say, I can't fathom the price difference between the Vivace Jumping Saddle and a standard Birkin! Am I missing something?
There's a really great video on Laurent's work here:
It would be a great place to visit and watch the Saddlers working.
Thanks for sharing!
